We have taken feedback on our competition theme and also revisited our roots and what we strive to do with the Wideman Education Foundation. “Go Green Vancouver” is a noble cause and theme but can be limiting to those undertaking projects.
We are expanding our theme for the 2019 competition to “Community” in the spirit of giving back. Any “Go Green” themed projects still qualify under the new theme, but we hope to be even more inclusive.
This will give our project teams more flexibility to be creative to give back and ultimately will create more benefit for the communities we live in.
Wideman Education Foundation (WEF) is an inclusive community that promotes Project Management (PM) competencies and skills and connects individuals and organizations to the world of Project Management. The Foundation organizes a yearly competition that promotes Project Management skills amongst students. Please see our video from our inaugural year.

The Wideman Education Foundation was a proud participant at the PMI Canada West Coast Chapter conference in Vancouver on October 16th and 17th. The venue and catering at the Fairmont Pacific Rim has surely spoiled us (our booth was right in front of the buffet table!)
It was a great event to come and learn new skills, expand your network, and mix with some of the top professionals and leading minds in project management in North America. The theme of “Dare to Innovate, Plan to Transform” hit home for a lot of attendees as we enter a world where project management is shifting to deal with a more dynamic and agile future with the emergence of AI, machine learning, and big data.
It was also a good chance to catch up with friends, and we even ran into some members from our 2018 competition winning team, Code Green! It’s wonderful to see students moving fluidly towards not only a profession but also remembering the importance of giving back.
WEF was once again a proud participant of the ProjectWorld*Business Analyst World event, which took place on September 24th – 27th, 2018 in Vancouver. In partnership with our friends at the Langara Project Management Club, PMC Langara, we offered one person the chance to win a 2-day pass to attend the biggest conference in project management.
We are happy to announce that Eduardo Villasenor was the lucky winner and he thoroughly enjoyed the experience as an opportunity to learn and network. Congratulations from the team at WEF.
