Competition Overview

Wideman Education Foundation (WEF) is an inclusive community that promotes Project Management (PM) competencies and skills and connects individuals and organizations to the world of Project Management. The Foundation organizes a yearly competition that promotes Project Management skills amongst students.  Please see our video from our inaugural year.

For 2019, the WEF Ontario Competition (WOC) is hosting full time University and Post-Secondary student teams in that have planned and executed a project! A project is temporary in that it has a defined beginning and end in time, and therefore clear scope and resources. It is unique in that it is not a routine operation, but a specific set of operations designed to accomplish a singular goal.

Projects will be evaluated on how well you are able to incorporate Project Management principles, skills and execution. Each submission must have had a minimum duration of two months from initiation to closing. We are looking for a project in which you have had to assess the state of an art or created a business case, elaborate a plan defining scope, schedule, budget, stakeholders, and risks, as stated in the Project Management Institute (PMI) processes and knowledge areas. This project is not one typical school assignment but a unique endeavour with an objective and purpose.

The competition will be evaluated by certified Project Management Professionals (PMP).

University and Post-secondary students who have completed a project between September 2018 and March 2019 are invited to participate in teams of 3-5 members. You will be representing your college or university in a Project Management competition worthy of praise, recognition and prizes. This is your chance to achieve something great in 2019!
