Meet Our 2018 Vancouver Competition Judges

 The Vancouver 2018 competition is just around the corner and  we would like to introduce you to this year’s judges!

Mike Dewing

Mike is certified in multiple Project Management disciplines and a proven track record of successful project implementations. Has over 25 years of successful implementations in a variety of industries.  

Currently the AMI Solutions Program Manager providing technical expertise, support and project management to the AMI sales group across Canada, improving Corix’s sales offerings and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the transition and implementation process by training Corix staff and clients.

Since 2015 Mike has been an instructor for ITD Canada for Operations Management and Project Management courses primarily to international students. These students end up with a clear understanding of the PMI knowledge areas, PRINCE2 foundation and the Agile / Scrum methodology.

Since 2007, Mike has been involved in the utilities industry for Corix Utilities primarily involving meter deployment for a variety of utilities across Western Canada. His business knowledge encompasses the full range of operational requirements for these projects including deployment, logistics, inventory, communications, financial, contract and risk management for these time sensitive projects. 

Mike was the Operations Project Manager during the very successful BC Hydro AMI Deployment of 1.6 Million meters across B.C. He was recognized by the BC Hydro First Nations deployment team and awarded the Corix President’s Award and an Outstanding Service Award for this project.
Mikes experience also included Business Development including researching and executing responses to RFP’s and tenders for Corix. 

Mike also enjoys giving back to the community by volunteering in a variety of sectors. He is the Director for the Mentorship Program at the West Coast Chapter of PMI and was the President of the SmartKiDz Foundation that encourages Project Management and Leadership skills for high school students.



Mehran Jamshidi

Mehran is a Project Management Professional and Instructor who carries over 19 years’ experience in different areas of academia, Information Technology, Process Improvement, Quality Management, Telecommunications, Business Transformation and Intelligent Transportation Systems.

Mehran moved to Canada in 2013, joined TELUS as a Contractor in January 2016, and became an FTE in October 2016 as an IT Project Manager in Technology Strategy PMO.

Presently he is a Senior Project Manager in TELUS Coaching and Learning PMO, and works with a fantastic team of professionals strategizing, developing and delivering coaching and learning solutions including Instructor-Led trainings, e-learning, job aides,… to TELUS team members.

Mehran’s passion towards Learning and Training environments made him volunteering with PMI Canadian West Coast Chapter from November 2014, and he is now a board member and VP Education at PMI CWCC. As an instructor, and after teaching for 13 years as apart-time faculty in Iran, he has been teaching Project Management Courses at BCIT, and MBA courses at New York Institute of Technology from January 2016, and is a member of MBA Advisory Committee at Yorkville University.

He holds a Master’s degree in System Management and Productivity, a Bachelors in Computer Software Engineering, and holds PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP, Scrum Master (CSM), ITIL certifications.

Mehran is a huge advocate of new leadership studies, agile project management, and loves coaching and teaching.


Cindy Laschuk

As the former Chief Operating Office of an award-winning, family-owned manufacturing business, Cindy led all aspects of operations, including customer service and sales, IT business systems, business process improvements, human resource management, and quality assurance.

A mother of 3, Cindy finds joy in volunteering and giving back to the community. She is a dedicated, strong advocate for higher learning and professional development. She sits on the Board of Governors at a university preparatory school, Southpointe Academy in South Delta. As a board member, she has experience in strategic governance that oversees school management, teacher retention, budgets, capital investments, fundraising initiatives, community engagement, and setting policies for the short and long term vision of the school. Prior to being on the board, Cindy managed, branded, marketed, and coordinated several high earning annual events, such as golf tournaments and galas.

She has been with the Canadian West Coast Chapter since 2016, making significant improvements while in the roles of Eblast Director and Website Director. She has also assisted in promoting the education classes through digital marketing efforts that saw an increase in registration by over 50%. Her professional memberships include the Project Management Institute (PMI), International Business Analysis Institute (IIBA), and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

Now, founder and principal consultant for Click Designs Inc., she provides operational and marketing guidance for companies during their transitional growth periods.


Jette Helin

Jette Helin, PMP, is a senior project manager with over 30 years of experience in the field who consistently achieves excellent results in her projects. Starting her career with BC TEL (now TELUS) in information technology, she has branched out to include other sectors in her portfolio. 

Since 2012, Jette has been working on a variety of projects with Lizette Parsons Bell & Associates. Prior to that, she worked on several key projects for TransLink for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. She was responsible for the Transportation Demand Management project, which exceeded its targets of reducing traffic into the city of Vancouver during the games. 

While her work has primarily been on large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and diverse teams, she also has considerable experience managing small projects for not-for-profit organizations. Having worked overseas for several years, she is adept at and enjoys working with diverse cultures. In 2009 working with Rajand Dhungana, she started a small not-for profit organization in Nepal, which focuses on helping schools in the village of Khalte.

Gary Lengyell

I originally graduated from university in Landscape Architecture.  After working in Toronto for engineering and design firms, I joined a small hi-tech company that specialized in 3D modelling, and photo realistic imaging, which is where I began my formal path into the computer world, and project management.

In 1999 I moved to Vancouver and joined a local software company, in the R&D dept.  In 2005 I decided to make the leap to the telco world and joined TELUS, for what was at the time the largest IT project in Canada.  Since then I’ve managed IT projects in cap size of $3m to $6m.. 

During my time at TELUS I’ve also spent 2 years managing the retail store builds for all of TELUS Western Canada stores.
